Summary:ĭoubs is a pure vertical threat for better or worse. Level of competition couldn’t hang with him athletically, NFL DB will be able to. Doubs seldom faced press and I have concerns about his ability to handle it if asked to play outside. 2nd gear is amazing, but takes a bit to get there. Left meat on the bone despite production. Doubs has notable issues with drops and had some ugly misses in 2020. Will need to be schemed into plenty of space and hit in stride to be a true YAC threat. Can get YAC on screens if allowed to freely open up stride and work angles, but not a creative or physical runner with the ball in his hands. Can contort his body well when given a longer time to adjust, but struggles there on sub 15 air yard targets. Does not like contact and seems to struggle in congested areas. Doubs has a very thin frame for his listed weight and is not a physical receiver. Pigeon-holed into a vertical threat currently. Should draw plenty of flags once he gets going. 4.45-4.50 runner whose speed plays up after 20 yards. His ability to take a top off of a defense opens up the underneath stuff for other receivers. On vertical routes, Doubs shows the ability to high point with a wide catch radius. Doubs thinks like a safety and will tailor his routes to create 1V1 opportunities for himself and force safeties to commit early. Doubs uses angles very well and has a good feel for where space is as a receiver. Doubs has inside/outside versatility and a clean release package when allowed to release freely. Juice to separate vertically, but also capable of stopping on a dime.
Very good vertical separator who stacks DB’s downfield with an innate feel for keeping on defenders back. Doubs has a high-cut 6’2 frame and uses this to really open up his stride and hit a true second gear downfield. Pros:ĭoubs is the definition of a true vertical threat. Doubs is a vertical specialist who demands the respect of a defense and clears the middle even when he isn’t targeted.
